Intriguing plot with lots of twists. I’m very surprised this the only book, since it’s seems there could be more in the world.
The characters are deep.

I’m sorry but to have a story with multiple POVs in the same chapter but not be able to tell the difference between who’s talking because of the narrator made this book difficult. It made the story less appealing because it would take a while to realize new characters joined or figure out who’s talking. It started to ruin it and it could have been a good book.

Horrible narrator

The book was Amazing! Been in a slump so this was great. Fast pace. Cared about the main characters. The narrator however was all over the place. I didn’t know if I was listening to the same person sometimes between kingdoms-but not in a purposeful or pleasant way, some characters has different voices, some none. Some had different pitches accents some none. It was hard to discern who was talking at time. I want audible for voices. Anyhow. This type of book should have splurged on 4 narrators. Or at least 2

Great book bad narration

This started out slow, and it really didn’t pick up for me until Gandrett met Armand. Let’s be honest, that is when the story starts to unfold, and you get to experience that ‘edge of your seat’ feeling. It's a good story, and I will be reading the next book. Oh, I forgot to mention the narration. I didn't care for this narrator. I felt the story deserved dual narration - but that is just my opinion.

I found this book after reading the Wings of Ink series by the same author and discovering that there are 3 interconnected series. I loved this story and am enjoying a deeper dive into the Alcunaire universe. Highly recommend!
