I really liked Colin UNTIL his own book. Jeez, he was almost a surlier, angrier version of Anthony. Plus he was a whiny brat to boot. Given his talent for writing about the beautiful places he was fortunate enough to visit, his bitterness and jealousy was almost too much to overlook. Penelope was a very compelling character, but a trend I’ve noticed in this series is how the strong female characters turn into doormats at the hands of their husbands. Anthony redeems himself, but not before I wished to throat punch him more times than I have fingers and toes.

The romance between these two never seemed real or robust to me, except perhaps the balcony scene. A real shame because Ms. Quinn excels at passionate yet poignant love scenes. So why four stars? Because the plot and the characters are still that good.

I have loves every book in this series so far but this one really takes the cake! I had the best feeling of happiness and excitement throughout the whole story! this is one I will definitely be listening to again! ( and I'm not one who re-reads many books) I 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

I love Penelope's character from the series, so I choose her story to begin my journey into the books.
It did not disappoint. I also enjoyed Rosalyn's narrating. A couple of the male voices were a little cringey, but give her a little credit for trying the low tones. I couldn't do any better, I'm sure.

Now I have to read all the rest..

I loved almost every second of this novel. The narrator has a great range and does amazing voices for the women and for the man love interest Colin Bridgerton. I loved the story and also was obsessed with how much the narrator sounded like Lady Danbury in the Netflix show. I would highly recommend you listen if you like best friends to lovers stories.
