A heart-wrenching and unforgettable contemporary romance about grief, healing, and second chances, where Josefine and Daniel—two souls from different worlds—learn that sometimes love is the only way to find your way back to the surface

He can't stop thinking about her. She wants to forget him. But fate seems to have other plans.

Josefine Resendiz is trying to survive the weight of grief while pretending her life hasn’t come to a complete standstill. She doesn’t know how to name what she’s feeling or how to fix what feels broken inside her. All she knows is that staying afloat is getting harder by the day.

Daniel Garcia looks like he has everything going for him. A gifted shortstop with a future everyone believes in, he carries himself with easy charm and quiet confidence. What no one sees is the guilt and loss he’s been carrying since his brother’s death, grief he’s learned to hide behind smiles and discipline.

That's until he stumbles upon Josefine on Christmas Day, by chance and at the wrong time, in a moment that was never meant to last. But some connections refuse to disappear. When their paths keep crossing, forgetting each other becomes impossible. Feelings surface. Defenses falter. Being together starts to feel like relief.

As they grow closer, they are forced to face the question neither of them is ready to answer: What happens when love arrives before healing does, and letting go feels just as terrifying as holding on?

This book is for the people who are struggling with mental health. This book gives you the breath of fresh air that there is always someone out there who cares even in your toughest times. If I could give this book 6 stars I would. This is definitely my top favorite reads/listen of a lifetime. Plus the mouth on that man is something else.

Danny is everything

please don’t go wrecked me in the best possible way 💔
this is a college sports romance, yes — there’s banter, there’s tenderness, there are moments that made me smile — but don’t let that fool you. this book goes deep. it tackles mental health in a way that feels raw and real, the kind that settles heavy in your chest long after the last page.
josie and daniel grabbed me from the very first scene and never let go. two people carrying so much, who’ve been through so much — and then they find each other. what starts as friendship slowly becomes something more, and what they give each other isn’t just love. it’s a safe space. it’s the quiet permission to finally want to be happy. it’s heavy. it’s heartbreaking. it will gut you. but i promise you’ll find hope and closure just like they do. 🤍
and the side characters?? angel and penelope — i see what E. Salvador did and i am NOT okay. book 2 better be theirs. the epilogue alone had me wanting more immediately.
🎧 audiobook lovers, this one hits different — narrated by Frankie Corzo and Oscar Reyes, and both were absolutely phenomenal.

When you find out why this book is called "Please Don't Go" 😭 *queue the tears* this happens so rarely but this was one of those reads I knew from chapter 1 would be 6 stars and I was not disappointed. This was easily the best book I've read this year and we're only a couple months in.

I've always said golden retriever MMC x black cat energy FMC is top tier.
"Don’t be mean to me. It’ll only turn me on more." Oh Daniel Garcia. I swear I felt every emotion while reading this. Daniel was constantly obsessed with looking for her smile and I swear anytime his heart skipped a beat because she smiled, I couldn't help but smile as well. This book drew me in and didn't let me go. Which probably explains how I read this in less than a day.

Not only did I feel all the happy emotions but, I also felt the gutwrenching ones when we start diving further into their mental health issues. We have Josefine having just lost her mom and angrily processing all those feelings. On the other side we have Daniel who's been bottling everything up since the death of his brother and trying to put on this happy front like everything is okay. My heart was both broken and then stitched back together when they finally got the help they realized they needed. Felt like a breath of fresh air when they saw a therapist.
And then seeing them come back 😭
“If you let me in, I’ll hold a flashlight, and we’ll find a way out together.”
“You’ll do that for me?”
“I’ll do it for the rest of our lives. As I continue to remind you that you deserve all the good things.”

Josefine and Daniel: you have my heart ❤️ I loved this with everything in me and I can't speak highly enough about it. I'm so so excited for Angel and Penelope's book next (at least I'm assuming because I swear I felt something between them).
