When Susie stumbles upon an old, unmarked game at a dusty retro shop, she never expects it to change her life—literally. At first, it seems like a twisted version of The Sims, allowing her to create and control digital people. But as she plays, the lines between reality and the game begin to blur. The characters she creates aren't just self-aware. They're real and when they suffer, they feel it.

Then, she notices something terrifying, every person she creates in the game disappears in real life.

Denial keeps her playing. Curiosity keeps her experimenting. But when the police start investigating, and the shop where she bought the game mysteriously disappears, she knows she’s in too deep. Yet, something urges her to keep going. To finish what she started.

Think 90s nostalgic Sims vibes. This was such a fun, engaging listen. It captured my attention from the beginning and kept me fully invested the whole way through. I loved the glimpses into Susie’s life and how vivid the game was described. It felt like I was seeing it myself.

A nice little ‘gasp’ moment at the end!! Excellent listen!!

Fiona Myers wrote an incredible story. Stephanie Betschart brings it to life.

If you are a Sims fan, just give this a read. The narrator did a great job as well. I was entertained the entire way through. It brought me back to treacherous days while playing the sims. The story felt fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat. I didn’t know where it would end and I am beyond excited to know another book is coming.

Loved this!
