Sex, lies and ill-fitting swimwear...sun protection factor 100.

Jan Nyman, the ace detective of the covert operations unit of the National Central Police, is sent to a sleepy seaside town to investigate a mysterious death. Nyman arrives in the town dominated by a bizarre holiday village - the ‘hottest beach in Finland’. The suspect: Olivia Koski, who has only recently returned to her old hometown. The mission: find out what happened, by any means necessary.

With a nod to Fargo and dark noir, Palm Beach, Finland is both a gripping thriller and a black comedy about lust for money, fleeing dreams and people struggling at turning points in their lives - chasing their fantasies regardless of reason.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel with its cast of misfit characters. The only thing that would have made it better would have been a reader with a Finnish or Scandinavian accent. Surely there must be some Northern European readers.

Great story

A clever plot and entertaining characters with a satisfying ending; a welcome antidote to Nordic noir.

Engaging

Interlacing the experiences of a motley crew of characters and giving us insight into their perceptions without overt judgment, this tale yanks the reader on like an accomplice in the shotgun seat with a joyriding teen: maddening yet jolly good fun.

Fun story, well-written

Predictable…. Yet not! Interesting ending, too. Would be a great book for the beach- although it didn’t inspire me to go to a beach in Finland!!😂
