To win the war one man must break the rules of war. Because in the fight against the ruthless Sa’Nerran Empire there is only victory or death.

The Sa’Nerra were close to defeat, then everything changed. Armed with a unique neural weapon, the merciless alien warriors turned fleet crew against their own. Entire warships went rogue. Suspicion and fear ran riot.

Victory now required new tactics and a new kind of ship and crew.

Lucas Sterling is an Omega captain. He is the commander of the fleet Marauder Invictus - an elite, black-ops warship that operates outside the rules of combat. Together with his crew of Omega officers - each chosen in a depraved and monstrous trial of grit and determination - Sterling will stop at nothing to beat the brutal Sa’Nerra. Even if that means killing fleet crew that have been “turned”. Even if that means killing the people he loves.

They say space is cold, but the heart of an Omega captain is colder still…

Three books for one credit is always a good deal as long as the story is decent. This one starts out a bit hard to get into but once it gets going you don’t want to put it down. The narration is hard to listen to at first but it grows on you and is not near as bad by the end. I actually enjoyed the story and I am now looking forward to the next box set in this series.

Decent Space Opera

GJ Ogden did a great job with this story. The character and plot development were excellent. Audio Version: This is the first time I have listened to Steve Barnes. After I got used to him and his voices I really enjoyed what he was doing.

The Complete story (6 books) was interesting. The story would start to show down, then would speed up and grab you again.
The narration was OK. When the narrator wasn't changing voices for the different characters, he spoke with what I can only describe as an annoying whisper of a voice. If he'd have spoken normally, my review would have been all 5 stars.

Good Science Fiction

Good space war with concerns about tech implants. The narration was a little rough, nasally and lispy but not with the character voices only the narrative. It wasn't too distracting after a bit.

The flawed characters of this military science fiction space opera are well-developed and engaging; they drew me into the story. The entertaining plot is fast-paced with lots of action and adventure including hand-to-hand combat as well as space battles. There were plenty of twists and turns, political intrigue, danger, mystery, manipulation, suspense and humor. I look forward to reading and/or listening to the rest of the series. This is the first time that I have listened to narrator Steve Barnes. It took me a chapter or two to become accustomed to his somewhat breathy whisper for the exposition; the delivery of the voices of the different characters was much more enjoyable and entertaining.
