When a bolt of lightning strikes 17-year-old Viranda’s home during a severe thunderstorm, she awakens, dazed, to find a strange blood-covered man sitting calmly on her bed. This man claims to be Cillian Balor, The Night Warrior, the same character Viranda herself had created in her novel.

Cillian believes Viranda to be the Goddess of Fate from his homeworld of Lingard. However, Viranda claims there is no Goddess of Fate in Lingard; she should know, she did create it, after all. When other characters from her book begin to appear in her world, Viranda fears what would happen if the likes of Finn Razorclaw, a deadly werewolf and the archrival of Cillian, or the feared witches of The Black Cat Clan arrived, as well. With the help of her best friend, Bee, and a protection gnome named Mo, Viranda and Cillian must discover the secret to Cillian’s existence and prevent catastrophic damage by powerful supernatural beings.

Night Warrior is an excellent piece of fantasy storytelling. Blending in many established fantasy elements while subverting the tropes of the genre. Expertly paced, intense, and thought provoking.

Epic action, unique world building, and twists and turns aplenty!

A brilliant new use of traditional storytelling tropes. You will recognize traditional themes of magic, good vs evil, a unwilling but genuine heroine. But you will not guess what will happen next.

Jordan puts a great new twist on the story of a writer creating their own world. I really enjoyed the fresh takes on all the traditional themes.

I just finished Night Warrior by Jordan J. Scavone and narrated by Elizabeth Elieson. It is a fascinating tale about a young writer whose creations somehow manage to come to her own reality. An honestly terrifying concept to some, I know I would never want some of my writing creations to show up. This fascinating tale drags all the usual fantasy tropes, heros, werewolves, magical swords and the like in to the real world, leading to some interesting interactions.
As stated before Night Warrior is an interesting tale of fantasy well written with characters who are certainly interesting enough that you want to stay invested in the story to see what happens to them. There is humor, heartbreak, and adventure that will make this an exciting story for any fan of the fantasy genre.
Now I listened to Night Warrior, as the author sent me a copy of the audiobook some time ago and I just dragged myself through my backlog enough to finally sit down and enjoy the tale. The narration was excellent. Elizabeth Elieson’s attempt at giving us voices that fit each character is well done. It is always good to enjoy an audiobook read by someone who allows you to feel the characters as you hear them.
Night Warrior is a must read. I also suggest listening to it!

Not a bad book, I overall enjoyed it. i listened to it as an Audiobook. Some of the battle scenes were a bit long winded for my taste. It was a fun premise of the main characters fictional world mixing with her real world. I'll be heading to check out Jordan's other titles for younger kids.

really 3.5 but I rounded up
