But the intended recipient, Thadée Baret, is shot and dies in Aimée’s arms before the transaction can be completed, leaving Aimée with a wounded arm, a check for 50,000 francs, and a trove of ancient jade artifacts.
Whoever killed Baret wants the jade. The RG—the French secret service—a group of veterans of the war in Indochina and some wealthy ex-colonials and international corporations seeking oil rights are all implicated. And the nun, Linh, has disappeared.©2005 Cara Black (P)2011 Recorded Books, LLC

Would you try another book from Cara Black and/or Carine Montbertrand?
I've read five or six of Cara Black's books; this is the first audio recording I've chosen. I will continue to read Black, but I won't listen to Montbertrand. I may have underrated the story, but it's only because I couldn't finish the audiobook. How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Haven't finished it yet -- I have the book in my library and will read it the old-fashioned way.Would you be willing to try another one of Carine Montbertrand’s performances?
Not if she tries to alter her voice for different characters. She just doesn't know how to do it without making all of them sound the same, sort of drugged and sleepy. Better narrators make it easy to distinguish one character from another. She'd have been better off just using her regular voice throughout.Do you think Murder in Clichy needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Don't know yet.Distracting Narrator

A murder, a kidnapping, corporate espionage, war crimes, mistaken identity (x3), political corruption (x2), and wildly misunderstood matters of the heart (x4!), all within 17 hours? Yeah, seems a bit of a stretch.
Write better, please! I've enjoyed the previous novels so much!. I'll give the next book a try out of pity more than anything else.
A disappointment
