I love this author not only was she a real life DA, but she has an incredible grasp of storytelling the real life day to day without being boring. That being said I usually look forward to Barbara Rosenblat telling the story as she does a great job, and she is the characters for me, but this book fell a little flat. However, I contribute that also to this was one of her first books with the characters. Overall, GREAT story, couldn't wait to listen everyday!

Where does Likely to Die rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This serial/book is one of my favorites. I would say it ranks within my top three.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I like Alexander Cooper because she is smart and has family wealth so she can pursue her passions, but still has a good work ethic.

What does Barbara Rosenblat bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Barbara Rosenblat goes a long way to absolutely making the story come alive. She is hands-down my favorite narrator. Sometimes, I choose my next book to read by searching for Barbara Rosenblat as the narrator.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I just really liked the story as a whole and by that I mean, not just the crime solving part, but the way the characters are developed and how their relationship story grows with each book.

One of the Best Series I Have Ever Read

The story was good and worth hearing and the narrator would even be fine except I can hear every swallow as a big, wet tongue crashes into the roof of her mouth, so distracting. Turn the volume down and it's definitely tolerable but since I use the headphone noise to block out noise at work it wasn't ideal for me.

Good at low volume

Would you listen to Likely to Die again? Why?

The story is pretty good; the detective is delightful. the only thing that might hold me back is the narrator. She does a great job doing voices, but it sounds like she is sucking on a cough drop or piece of candy. It is very distracting at times. I think it is a shame that such a good narrator spoils her work with the loud swallowing and sloppy saliva. I finished the book and look forward to reading another Fairstein book. However, I pray that the narrator stops swallowing and rolling her tongue around while talking.

What other book might you compare Likely to Die to and why?

Light mysteries such as Nina Reilly books.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No.

Cough Drop, Anyone?

This is the first but not the last of Linda Fairstein's books that I listen to. I enjoyed the story and am especially hopeful that Ms. Rosenblat is the narrator for all of them.

Also like that they are priced so reasonably.
