Brighton, England, 1820

Amelia Moore wants only one thing - to secure the future happiness of her younger sister, Clara. With their stepfather’s looming death, the two sisters will soon be on their own - without family, a home, or a penny to their names. When an invitation arrives to join a house party at Lakeshire Park, Amelia grasps at the chance. If she can encourage a match between Clara and their host, Sir Ronald, then at least her sister will be taken care of.

Little does she know that another guest, the arrogant and overconfident Mr. Peter Wood, is after the same goal for his own sister. Amelia and Peter begin a rivalry that Amelia has no choice but to win. But competing against Peter - and eventually playing by his rules - makes Amelia vulnerable to losing the only thing she has left to claim: her heart.

Very well written and well read. Such a twisty turny experience. At times I wasn't sure things would work out but I loved the ending!

I loved it!

The first half was slow and somewhat boring. My first impressions of the protagonist were not great, but she grew on me. About halfway through, the story started getting interesting and the characters started to round out. I still think they were a bit too flat, but overall, the second half made up for the first and I enjoyed listening. I don't get why they can't get a narrator with a true British accent though. You can tell it is fake, even if you aren't British yourself. She does a decent job, but I do think it takes away from the story a bit.

Slow at first but gets better.

Sweet somewhat predictable, quite entertaining.
I hated the narrators voice who sounded like an elderly lady. It was hard to imagine a young Emilia with such an old voice.

Not the biggest fan of the narration. It’s not bad, but there is something about her voice that wouldn’t allow me to thoroughly enjoy it.

Good story
