Annis Wychwood delights in her independence.

Beautiful, rich and far too busy for love, she has turned down the advances of many a hopeful suitor.

But when she becomes entangled in the affairs of a runaway heiress, she encounters the girl's guardian, the notorious Oliver Carleton. While Oliver may be a reckless and uncivil rogue, Annis can't help but be drawn towards his wild ways.

Delightful and great fun with an excellent narrator. Lots of period detail too. Highly recommended.

Georgette Heyer at her best

Wonderfully witty. Not the wittiest of all hr books, but it ranks as one of the top 5. The performance is top notch. You can just see the characters and story unfold. Press does a great job with both male and female characters. I adore Georgette Heyer, and like her far better than Jane Austin. I don't think she gets the credit she deserves.

Excellent Heyer

The reader was not able to perform the male voices well at all, and particularly failed with Mr. Carleton and Ninian Elmore. She also made a couple of mistakes. For example, she misread "oars" as "ears."

Lively, enjoyable characters - not the usual

the voice reading on this is absolutely perfect, expressive, sensitive to the subtle tones in the text, just absolutely beyond amazing. My favorite narrator, with a perfect understanding of the magnificent Georgette Heyer.

Love this book but BEST reading

Georgette Heyer has long been a favorite of mine. I've been reading and rereading her books for over 40 years. I'm so pleased to find her on Audible. Her work is light and witty. I thought the narrator did a fine job. Can't wait to listen to more Heyer work!

Wonderful!
