This is a great book BUT not so great narrator. Terribly monotone voice that had a drone to it

Great Book about a GRAND Man

Another homerun for Mr. Myers. This book was excellent the entire way through. Here are several more words to meet the minimum required word count.

Magnificent

This book makes me wish I could have met him. Everyone deserves someone like this in their lives.

Sweet name, sweet man.

Having just finished two autobiographies (Michael J. Fox's "Future Boy" and Ozzy Osbourne's "Last Rites") I guess I was hoping for a similar ride... I was disappointed slightly.

Obviously, this isnt an autobiography and I wish I was. The narrator sounded tired or breathless. I nearly stopped the book about 9 chapters in. I was simply bored.

Thankfully, it does pick up a bit and I enjoyed learning of his experiences in his movies that we all loved him for. Splash. Brewster's Millions. Uncle Buck. The Great Outdoors. Home Alone. All of them all wonderfully chronicled here.

To have the book end with the eulogy given by Dan Aykroyd at his funeral (not read by Dan, however) was quite wonderful and very emotional.

If you want to learn about John Candy, laugh at his brilliance, feel some of his pain and learn behind the scenes bits from his movies, it's a great book. As mentioned, a different narrator would've helped and the beginning is painfully slow.

We all loved John Candy

This book should be THE model of how to research and present the life of a celebrity. Though I was already well aware of John Candy and his work, the author provided insight into his character that was new to me. I am also grateful to those who worked with and loved John for sharing their intimate feelings about him. Their generosity made the listening experience one of the best I’ve ever had.

Innate decency well told
