Three fleets aim to wipe out a planet.

One team must raise the alarm...and time is running out.

As Moldark turns his attention to Capriana Prime, Magnus and his gladias attempt to convince the Republic’s leadership to raise the planetary defense shield. But this seemingly simple task turns out to be more difficult than anyone expected, placing the planet’s population in grave jeopardy.

Desperate to save the capital, Magnus and the Gladio Umbra fight to save the seat of galactic rule at all costs.

Azelon isn’t without her tricks, however, and provides new hardware for Magnus—the BATRIG mechanized battle armament system.

But as time runs out, Magnus is faced with the hardest choices of his life...and gambles will be made.

All for the greater good.

The new narrator is not RC, but thank goodness for being able to speed up playback. Much better at 1.1x than normal speed. The story itself though is getting tired. Plot lines are not overly original. I struggle to respect how easily the characters decide to kill the same people they were allied with just days or weeks before. Almost no attempts to find alternatives. I plan to take a break from series. Might give it another chance later. Maybe.

Let’s start with the obvious, I’m sure Mr. Grant is a great guy and in another book, a great narrator. But this guy should never have said “yes”. And he never should have been asked the question.
Like the plot of many of Mr. Hopper or Mr. Chaney’s, you don’t swap out members of the team in the middle of the action. If R.C. Bray is not available you don’t go into battle(or publish). Unless someone is dead, if you start with the guy, you end with the guy.

As for the story…..
The story is fine but this series (Ruins) feels forced now and artificially stretched out. Like this plot line should be done or should have been done in fewer books.
I am bummed when I see a book is only 6-8 hours long, which is not the issue here. but after 6 hours into this book, I am just not into it anymore. It seems like they are being chopped into more books for reasons other than to tell a great story. And more books must be harder than fewer if your the narrator. Look, I don’t want to sound unappreciative of the amazing stories and superb narration. If there is more to say, and there should be when the plot is based on an entire Galaxy, then start it as it’s own story. And change the team before you start the series, not mid-mission.

Fonzy is in the air folks

I can’t imagine why the voice performer would be switched at this point in a series. The story is great, but this performer was the wrong choice for this series. I can imagine him being fantastic in a more science based story vs a military one. He is a good performer, but not for this series.

Awful new narrator choice

I really appreciate the fact that the new narrator was able to pronounce the names of the characters the same way RC Bray had.

Narrator got the names right at least
