He's a professional hockey player trying to survive on his new team. I'm just trying to survive.

I'm down to my last dollar. I live day-to-day in a world that doesn't care. Despite my bad luck, I'm a fighter. I never give up. I never stop trying.

Ryan Parker's wealth and generosity set him apart from anyone I know. Yet, I don't trust him. It's nothing personal. I trust no one. But when my bad luck takes a turn for the worse, one person shows up. Ryan Parker.

I do not understand why he bothered because the guy has enough of his own issues to deal with. But I don't have a choice. I need him. It's a matter of survival.

His friendship changed everything. It changed me. I started to believe in myself. I allowed myself to trust. And for the first time in a long time, I felt my heart beat again.

Love the story! I wanted to punch Bianca many many times.
When it comes to the narration… well.. at first I was glad that it had dual narration which was kind of missing in the first book but it was sooo slow. I had to speed it up to 1.1 for the whole book. I also didn’t love the male narrators voice… not sure if it was his pronunciation or his voice in general. I did enjoy this story more than the first one and finished it in two days by staying up way too late after my kids were already in bed. It really held me captive.

Prefered this boom compared to the first one

Zoey lives on the streets after being released from the foster system. She meets Ryan, a hockey player new to the Vancouver Wolves team who’s trying to get connected with his new teammates. He generously and without an agenda besides compassion, he gives Zoey a job as his personal assistant and a room of her own in his fancy apartment. After her time living rough she is initially suspicious of his motives until she truly sees that he’s a good man and begins to trust again.

Talented narrators bring the characters to life!

I enjoyed the transformation of the characters in this book. I appreciated that Zoe was able to grow and accomplish her goals. I liked that hard choices were made and in the end it made the relationship stronger. At first I didn’t think I would like the male narrator, but in the end, I really liked his voice and it fit his caring role. It was a great book.

Spicy and sweet

I absolutely love just about anything narrated by Alex. He always makes the stories soooo much better. But the female narrator is not good. It really throws it off when you have Alex that always gives an amazing performance then Madeline that really doesn’t. The story is also pretty corny at times so that makes Madeline’s narration even worse.

Alex Kydd will always melt me
