Missionary Paisley Parker arrives in 1831 Jamaica with plans to change the world. Plantation owner, and future earl, Archer Barrington likes his world exactly as it is. She fights against slavery. He owns 1,000 slaves. She thinks he’s evil. He thinks she’s delusional. A woman who loves freedom. A man who demands order. A passionate battle of wills, set in an historic turmoil that will change them both forever. Paisley, nicknamed Honeybee, longs to make the world a sweeter place. But after traveling the globe with her missionary father, she’s developed a condemning spirit toward anyone who opposes Emancipation. When Paisley meets Archer, she adopts her usual combative stance, but her father reminds her that the greatest battles are won with love. She prays to be like Queen Esther, who influenced a powerful man to help an oppressed people. But how can she influence Barrington’s heart without allowing the charming man to steal hers? And how can she bring freedom to Jamaica’s slaves while Barrington’s fellow plantation owners will stop at nothing to silence her? Free as the Wind intertwines fictional characters with the real people and events that brought about the end of slavery in the British Empire. love historical fiction.
author did a great job. love the story and the information.
narrator is one of the better virtual voice recordings, but still a bit frustrating to listen to
would make this experience of listening so much better with a real narrator.

wonderful

The story itself wasn't bad, but the virtual voice narrative was a bit off putting. It made it difficult to know which character was talking at times and was fairly monotoned.

Good story

What I appreciate the most about this book is that it thoroughly develops the characters, the plot, and even the ending. I hate a rushed ending. It also gives a clear depiction of the grace of God.

Surprisingly good story
