Cairo 1887: A melting pot of jealousy, lust and revenge. Who will pay the ultimate price?

Lucy Lawrence throws caution to the wind and embarks on a journey of self-discovery to the land of the pharaohs.

Travelling to Cairo as the patron of the charming French Egyptologist, Armand Moreau, Lucy discovers an archaeological community plagued by professional rivalries and intrigue. It is soon apparent that the thriving black market in antiquities threatens Egypt's precious heritage.

When the Egyptian Museum is burgled, Lucy is determined to solve the case, much to the annoyance of the local inspector of police, and the alarm of Mary, her maid. But when an archaeologist is found murdered in the Great Pyramid, Lucy is catapulted into the resulting maelstrom. Can she keep her wits about her to avoid meeting a similar fate?

First, book # 1 in this series was a definite 5 star read. Secondly, I was really looking forward to this one, book #2, Thirdly, I was sadly disappointed. To me, this was a slow, boring book that had so much potential. Maybe I set the bar too high, but this book did not resonate with me at all. Throughout the whole book I kept waiting for Phineas to step onto the scene, but it never happened. Lucy, working this case on her own was just boring. The plot had lots of potential, but to me it just fell short of the mark. The side characters were more interesting than Lucy. I will continue reading the series and pray the next books are better than this one.

Slow and boring.

Interesting plot and characters. I have a high tolerance for a variety of narrators, but this one kept me from listening on the first two attempts Adjusted speed and gritted my teeth and managed to finish. Would listen to next book but not with same narrator,

Well done story. Awful narration. ( for both books in series)

The way all the characters connected. Can't wait to start the next book. Hope it is as great as the first two books.

great story line

I gave the performance a 3 because the narrators supposed Scottish accent was a rubbish Irish accent. It was so distracting! If you can’t do the accent then don’t!!

Stay away from accents
