Eve Hardaway, newly single mother of one, is on a trip she’s long dreamed of - a rafting and hiking tour through the jungles and mountains of Oaxaca, in southern Mexico. Eve wanders off the trail, to a house in the distance with a menacing man in the yard beyond it, throwing machetes at a human-shaped target. Disturbed by the sight, Eve moves quickly and quietly back to her group, taking care to avoid being seen. As she creeps along, she finds a broken digital camera, marked with the name Teresa Hamilton. Later that night, in a rarely used tourist cabin, she finds a discarded prescription bottle - also with the name Teresa Hamilton. From the camera’s memory card, Eve discovers Teresa Hamilton took a photo of that same menacing looking man in the woods. Teresa Hamilton has since disappeared.

Now the man in the woods is after whoever was snooping around his house. With a violent past and deadly mission, he will do anything to avoid being discovered. A major storm wipes out the roads and all communication with the outside world. Now the tour group is trapped in the jungle with a dangerous predator with a secret to protect. With her only resource her determination to live, Eve must fight a dangerous foe and survive against incredible odds - if she's to make it back home alive.

What did you love best about Don't Look Back?

The latter chapters were amazing.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

It was slow going and took sometime to grow the story and characters but it was worth it. The half of the book were amazing!

What about Cassandra Campbell and Scott Brick ’s performance did you like?

Great performances!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I can still see her running through the forest, amazingly vivid descriptions and character growth.

Any additional comments?

Don't give up, give it a couple of hours to build and then wow you will be blown away.

Love any books written by this author.
Great story line and happy the protagonist was female and that she prevailed against a monster. As usual well written and lots of surprises. Great ending.
Only complaint I had was with editing, someone had a seriously bad day. Parts were jumbled and around chapters 56/57 it kept repeating itself. Spoiled my listening-

I found a new writer, this was my third book from Gregg Hurwitz. All three was outstanding.

A new writer😊

As a wilderness survival instructor, this book was both enjoyable and maddening to listen to. The set up to the action seemed glacial at times, but overall this was a good story that had a lot of twists, turns, etc. to keep you guessing.
It was both predictable and not. There are so many bits of ‘information’ that came up later to be used or useful in the ensuing saga, so, it’s fun to see how the writer planned it all out.

I don’t know why the ‘victims’ didn’t make or improvise any weapons, either. Seems obvious and weird to me.

Overall, a great listen while I mowed our lawns at our wilderness camp over a few weeks!
