I assume it’s a challenge to make an audience fall for the bad guy but this one fell short. I also prefer the damsel to be less distressed and more defiant. I couldn’t finish it.

It moved at a good pace the first 8 chapters but after became very choppy. Because it’s the first part of a 3 part series there maybe more rounding out of the characters but it’s very choppy as a stand alone book with characters and story that doesn’t blend seamlessly. Also without giving anything away some of the situations are ridiculously unrealistic and not the way I think anyone in those situations would react. The spice is spicy 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ but the story isn’t as good as it could have been. Felt rushed and slapped together.
Will finish the series because sometimes as each book is read it gets much better. ✨

I really wanted to like this book. The storyline had so much potential, but it fell flat for me. For starters it should not be listed as a dark mafia book because it surely is not. The voice actor for the FMC wasn’t the worse I’ve heard but it sounded like she was just reading a script on a very amateur level. The plot wasn’t bad but it was not delivered well. I don’t think I will be reading anymore books from this author.

I really liked that the plot wasn't so predictable. It flowed very well. The narrators I especially like. Both of their voices showed emotion without going over the top.
