The sixth novel of the galaxy-spanning Sun Eater series merges the best of space opera and epic fantasy, as Hadrian Marlowe continues down a path that can only end in fire.

The end is nigh.

It has been nearly two hundred years since Hadrian Marlowe assaulted the person of the Emperor and walked away from war. From his Empire. His duty. From the will and service of the eldritch being known only as the Quiet. The galaxy lies in the grip of a terrible plague, and worse, the Cielcin have overrun the realms of men.

A messenger has come to Jadd, bearing a summons from the Sollan Emperor for the one-time hero. A summons, a pardon, and a plea. HAPSIS, the Emperor’s secret first-contact intelligence organization, has located one of the dreadful Watchers, the immense, powerful beings worshipped by the Pale Cielcin.

Called out of retirement and exile, the old hero—accompanied by his daughter, Cassandra—must race across the galaxy and against time to accomplish one last, impossible task:

To kill a god.

fantastic as always. the characters that reappear just wow. I dont want to give anything away but seeing seeds from earlier books start coming together is wonderful.

I will never not love a sun eater book.

I love this series for the profound moments between characters, the loveliness of their emotions and the vast scope of their problems, namely for our hero, but side characters are also significant. The audio is superb. As beautiful as the hardbacks are, I’ll always have to listen to this series. The character work and accents is top notch and furthers the realism of this far space adventure.
My greatest struggle continues to be understanding all the plot points instead of just most. The ones I understood still rocked my socks off, so here’s to getting more on my next read through.
Pain begets mercy is a mantra that has forced retrospection in how I endure pain. I need to be less ornery and more merciful.

Another Sun Eater style Space Opera Episdoe

Another excellent addition in the Sun Eater saga. Fantastic writing, fantastic performance.

My only complain is that the editing is lax; you can hear swallows, page turns, breaths, etc all throughout this book and it is somewhat distracting as a result. Other than that though I have no complaints on the story or the performance!

Excellent
