It's the opening weekend of deer season in Gunthrum, Nebraska, in 1985, and Alma Costagan's intellectually disabled farmhand, Hal Bullard, has gone hunting with some of the locals, leaving her in a huff. A great narrator would have been wonderful, but this one falls terribly flat. I sped it up to 2x and that helped, but the vocal tone is not great, and the voices used for characters, particularly the male ones, are so bad it’s distracting. I think a solid male narrator or experienced female one would have improved the audio considerably.
