New Berwick, Illinois, is different from any community in the world. One-fourth is human, with three-fourths struggling to conceal their supernatural powers, plus a curse that has plagued men for several generations
When a sheriff and his deputies discover half-eaten farm animals, a headless teenage girl, and the sudden disappearance of a 10-year-old boy who then mysteriously reappears happy, healthy, and with no memory of his ordeal, dangerous secrets are about to unfold.

Aaron Sinn's narration was perfect for this horror story. His delivery was smooth and clear, never overly emotional, yet he infused the story with just the right touch of creepiness. I would definitely listen to another book read by him in the future.

I really thought this was an engaging and excellent listen. I liked the spooky town (and its inhabitants) the author describes in this book. There is a lot of great paranormal content that really draws you in. The narration is well done and really brings the story to life. There is so much for fans of both paranormal and horror to enjoy. I would definitely recommend this book for fans of either genre.
Great book!

The overall plot was interesting; however, my favorite story line was with Matthew. There is a scene in the woods where he and his girlfriend, Kayla, encounter a bear. It was a really exciting point in that story line. The other story line I really enjoyed was with the succubus, completely unnecessary to the storyline but great nonetheless There are a lot of little great pieces in this story that make the overall story a lot of fun to listen to. The story is full of action and the ending was the best part and while it is a slow crescendo it peaks quite high. I quite enjoyed how the setting seemed to be rural America in present time.
There are quite a few characters and it is easy to get lost with who is who and what their role and ability is. The story is also told over a period of time so while you would expect to get a lot of development of the characters I think they remain fairly static as I feel this was more plot driven and the characters were there to tell the story. You definitely get close to a few and become sympathetic with their fight.
The narrator did a good job. I would have liked to hear a bit more difference for the character’s voices, but he did have a good tone and his inflection was timed perfectly for the situations. I have heard him tell stories before and he is definitely a narrator you want to listen to.
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
