The highly anticipated fourth novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling Lightlark Saga, by acclaimed author and #BookTok sensation Alex Aster

Some worlds deserve to be destroyed....

Isla Crown has charted a new destiny and leapt into the unknown, determined to defeat her insidious ancestor, Lark, no matter the cost. But Skyshade is nothing like she anticipated, and she’ll have to use all of her skills just to survive, let alone end Lark for good.

Meanwhile, Grim and Oro would sooner set fire to their own kingdoms than leave Isla stranded on a path toward certain death. But getting her back will involve forging an alliance—if they can find a way to forgive their long history of betrayals.

The key to Isla’s return—and the fate of the realms—lies close to her heart. But in the face of her most powerful enemy yet, will Isla be able to reconcile her past in order to carve a future of her own making?

Filled with secrets, deception, romance, and twists worthy of the darkest thrillers, The Lightlark Saga is a must-listen for fans of legendary fantasy writers Marie Lu, Marissa Meyer, and Leigh Bardugo.

I have to admit-the first half of the book moved slow for me. But I know to keep reading because books usually have a change and the story picks up. This one did not disappoint. Man. There’s a plot twist in the middle that is wild! I couldn’t put it down after that! Just when the problem gets solved, something happens to create a new one! I was always team Grim. Or team Isla, really. I loved them both so whichever she went with to get her HEA, I was good with. However. I think I’ve become team Oro. These characters are so tragic. The changes they go through. Each character’s traits are becoming more and more developed as the story progresses. And the cliffhanger! Now the wait is on to see what happens next. And the audio! I love these narrators. They do such good jobs at using the different voices for different characters.

That plot twist!

I liked the overarching story, so much so that I went back to listen to the previous books to make sure I was caught up, but I feel like the new information given in this book could have been 2 hrs. The rest is just the same lamentations from different voices. Heart split, prophecy, Cronin is evil. I pushed through thinking I’d at least get to know how it all played out, but no.

Repetitive

This plot has so much potential, but could have been shorter. Everytime someone looked at another character or repeated how they felt about them every time. Like Grim and Oro… we get that you hate each other. I don’t need to be reminded every chapter that they are your enemy and once had been friends.
That’s the just of the first 1/4 of the book.

The voice actors did a good job portraying their characters.
