Injured and demoralized, Conor and his people have fled the US for Cyprus to heal and regroup. Each of them is fighting their own battles, trying to process their experiences in the fallen America and trying to determine what the future holds for them. But while Conor, Ricardo, and their team fought for their lives, another potential savior was quietly building his army.

Behind the scenes, one of the largest military contracting companies in the world has been building an alliance of orphaned American military units, stranded operators, intelligence specialists, mercenaries, and friendly foreign powers. Now that Lightspeed is dead and America has gone dark again, the CEO of the company realizes it’s time for him to act. This might be the last chance to save America from Chinese occupation and the Mad Mick, Ricardo, and their team want a piece of it.

I loved it, it was a perfect ending, great set up for what’s next?!! It was a new spin on Connor’s many talents.

The way Franklin Horton writes his story lines always pulls the reader into the story. All the well thought out and researched details, facts, and nuances make the story believable, plausible, and sometimes you could say scary, because I can see the storyline become a reality. Franklin Horton does not just come up with a great story and put it on paper like a lot of authors do, but instead, he takes that great story, builds a universe around it with endless possibilities, then fills that universe with nothing but accurate details, which is what really pulls you into his books. Like in Book 12 of the Mad Mick series, the therapist scenes are very thought out and feels real. I have extensive firearms knowledge, beyond what the majority of gun enthusiasts have, and one of my pet peeves is reading a book (listening on audibles), or watching a show/movie and hear or see mistakes that have to do with firearms. I am that guy that gets upset when you are watching a WWII movie and the soldiers are using M1 Garands from the Korean war and not WWII, or a book/movie having a model of gun that wasn't even made yet, etc. I can honestly say that another great thing about Horton's books is that he always has the details correct, not just in the weapons, but all aspects of the storyline.

On another note, do yourself a favor, and read or listen to all of Franklin Horton's books from all the different series, which some series are in the same universe and that really expands the horizons. I say read all his books because, not only will you be entertained, you will be enlightened, and I guarantee that you will gain real world knowledge, and learn some life hacks along the way. For instance, I am a prepper, and always have plenty of supplies and gear with me, to the point that if I was a character in a book and what I keep with me at all times was described, most people would not believe it. Now one thing I changed in my life, because of Franklin Horton, is how I travel. Around town I usually don't let my fuel tank on my truck get below 3/4 of a tank, just in case of an emergency, even though I carry 21 extra gallons of fuel on my truck. But, when traveling, I will usually run my truck down to 1/4 of a tank before refueling, and many times I have shut down for the night at a hotel after a long drive, and not refueled my truck before checking into the hotel. Well, after listening to book one of the Borrowed World series, I now always make sure I have a full fuel tank before I go to the hotel. I could keep writing about other life hacks, or things to ponder, that Franklin Horton's extensive research for each of his books has given me, but I doubt to many people has even read this far down on my review. LOL. Bottom line, put Franklin Horton on your need to read list.

So many accurate tiny details made this a big hit for me.

This was another great story in the Mad Mick series. It is interesting how the current AI and drone technology made it into the series. The author has created some great characters. Very entertaining.

Great Story

Awesome read as usual by an obviously talented writer. Some may go as far as to call him a scholar and a gentlemen. I’m sure he wears an ascot while writing such masterpieces I especially like his taste in character choice. He obviously has a keen eye for talent.

Awesome as usual
