Few events have sparked more legends and stories of the supernatural than America's Civil War. The accounts of gallantry and heroism have spread far and wide. Nancy Roberts grew up listening to her father's stories of the War Between the States, and she trekked over many battle sites with him during her childhood.

After reading about General Joshua Chamberlain's supernatural experience at the Battle of Gettysburg, Roberts began to collect tales of the blue and gray and write them down. In her latest collection, the listener will visit famous Civil War sites such as Fredericksburg, Antietam, Johnson's Island, Andersonville, Fort Davis, Gaines Mill, Gettysburg, Fort Monroe, Harpers Ferry, Vicksburg, Richmond, Charleston, New Bern, and Petersburg. Through these stories the listener will hear the voices of those brave individuals who lived through that dramatic era. Visit with Brigadier General J. E. B. Stuart on the banks of the Chickahominy River. Get the real story about John Brown's activities at Harpers Ferry. Hear the eerie whistle of Abraham Lincoln's funeral train.

I really enjoyed the stories included here. They add to my treasure trove of Civil War information.

Mr Edward's narration is a pleasure to hear. As a Southerner, it is often quite irritating to hear other's interpretation of a "Southern" accent. It is not the case with this book.

Not just your typical "ghost" story

My guilty pleasure is listening to ghost stories on rainy nights. I've also read close to 100 works on the American Civil War. I thought this would be a fun little listen. I was wrong. I tried. I really tried. Nancy Roberts was a northern born southern apologist who had a hard time with easily researchable facts. Its a shame as well, Allan Edwards narration was spectacular, what I could get through at least. In the end her unnecessary bias in these stories was too much for me to shut my brain off and just enjoy. Too bad really.

Waste of a good narrator.
