From a bestselling author of epic fiction comes the deeply human story of one of the world’s greatest mysteries: the building of Stonehenge.

A FLINT MINER WITH A GIFT
Seft, a talented flint miner, walks the Great Plain in the high summer heat, to witness the rituals that signal the start of a new year. He is there to trade his stone at the Midsummer Fair, and to find Neen, the girl he loves. Her family lives in prosperity and offer Seft an escape from his brutish father and brothers within their herder community.

A PRIESTESS WHO BELIEVES THE IMPOSSIBLE
Joia, Neen’s sister, is a priestess with a vision and an unmatched ability to lead. As a child, she watches the Midsummer ceremony, enthralled, and dreams of a miraculous new monument, raised from the biggest stones in the world. But trouble is brewing among the hills and woodlands of the Great Plain.

A MONUMENT THAT WILL DEFINE A CIVILIZATION
Joia’s vision of a great stone circle, assembled by the divided tribes of the Plain, will inspire Seft and become their life’s work. But as drought ravages the earth, mistrust grows between the herders, farmers and woodlanders—and an act of savage violence leads to open warfare . . .

Truly ambitious in scope, Circle of Days invites you to join master storyteller Ken Follett in exploring one of the greatest mysteries of our age: Stonehenge.

Explore one of the greatest megalithic mysteries
Following a fictional timeline surrounding the creation of Stonehenge, Circle of Days paints a story of two interconnected characters: Joia, a priestess whose visions predict the birth of the massive stone circle; and Seft, a love-struck flint miner looking for a better life. Master storyteller Ken Follet consistently demonstrates an attention to detail, especially in his in-depth character development. Coupled with Richard Armitage, one of the best narrators in the game, I was transported back to the BCE era as these monuments are constructed, as love becomes complicated and as war begin to rampage across the Great Plain. Circle of Days is truly an unforgettable listen.—Nicole R., Audible Editor

Fascinating Historical Fiction • Compelling Character Development • Immersive Storytelling • Plausible Stonehenge Explanation

The story overall was reasonably good. Not as good as his other historical fiction. But I did like how he had imagined the building process. The social and action story lines were “predictable” and anti-climatic. And I found he focused too much detail on the sexual encounters of his characters, both heterosexual and homosexual. He was far too graphic in his story lines and it wasn’t needed to understand the characters and their emotions.

Disappointed Fan of Ken Follett

Least favorite of Ken’s work by far. Editing errors include repetitive explanations only after presenting earlier facts that needed those explanations. Egregious sex scenes do not forward or enhance the plot. Don’t mind when he uses modern words to describe scenes or feelings or to explain plot, but when “stone-aged” people used words like “mechanical” in their own thinking or speaking, it is not reflective of their time period. As usual, the story quality and realistic characterizations are superb and absorbing - reflective of his other works.

Meh. Anachronistic vocabulary, lesbianism.

This was such a well-crafted story and opened my mind as to how Stonehenge might have been built. I fell in love with so many of the characters and was sad when I came to the end. I wanted to remain in their world for much longer.

Call me a little biased but some of my favorite books are the kings bridge series and I am such a big fan of Follett I have been waiting for months for this to be released and it was worth the wait. Follett did not disappoint. It’s a beautiful story and I couldn’t turn it off once I started it.
Thank you sir for another remarkable job!!
