First went the power. Then came the water, and for five days, the country’s oldest hospital was under siege. The never-before-told story of the heroic doctors, nurses, and patients who fought to survive Hurricane Katrina at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. The story traces a remarkable five-day transformation of an infirm institution, caught in a sea of death and indifference, into an island of care and tenderness.

Outside of New Orleans, few people know the history, and death of Charity. I do wish the author had gone more in depth into the aftermath, the politics which ended Charity.

Captivating, Heartbreaking, REAL!

This tragic event was told well from those that lived through it. It highlights community healthcare at its best and getting back to humanity was a perfect takeaway.

Amazing story

It's fine except for chapter 8 and the pronunciation of names. I almost stopped after chapter 8

Chapter 8 repeats 3 times. Annoying.

Chapter 8 repeats and I wish they talked more about why they never re opened because there are still so many questions
