I was raised in a fundamental evangelical church where I heard about a retributive God who... loves me?

My entire life, I leaned into the love and grace of God. I felt like a heretic most of my life because I could not believe that a God who loves the whole world would torture people in unspeakable ways for all eternity. I was told that if I cared for people, I had to convince them to join the team or they would be tormented in the fires of hell.

The brief insert in Section V Scarier Than Fiction (or on page 121 in the book) which draws attention to Jesus saying “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do” opposed to “Father, bless them for they have fulfilled Your plan” has been puzzling and soul stirring for days—and I love it.

Michael lays the groundwork for a purer, more authentic experience with life, with people, and with the Creator. This book is so thought-provoking it will have your mind spinning and your heart aching for more—especially if you’re honest and courageous enough to wrestle with the real questions it presents. This is a jewel, it changes one's perspective of how you view Christianity. I like the thought provoking challenge on each chapter that embraces how God see each of us. Christian are not we are his beloved. Read with an open mind, an open heart and leave your tradition at the door.
