For a starting book this has some great concepts. It teaches good programming skills and does a great introduction on c++ concepts. I really liked his explanation on costs and how you can lock a variable down so it can't be changed.

It's fantastic resource. I've studied C++ in classes and on my own with other resources, and this book is definitely one of the best, clearest resources for understanding the language. I think that the author have a great deal of experience in C++ as well as making it very easy to apply.
