What starts as a childhood promise quickly spirals into lies, deception, death, magic, betrayal, and complete mayhem as a kingdom begins to revolt over humans not being accepted as mates for the fae. Add in fated mates and true love, and things get messy FAST.
I ended up enjoying this much more than I thought I would. The tension, the chaos, and the emotional stakes kept me hooked, and the audiobook narration made it even more entertaining. If you enjoy romantasy filled with rebellion, forbidden love, magic, and drama, this one is worth checking out. ✨🖤

The concept is fun and fresh, mixing modern dating struggles with fae chaos is actually genius. The main character felt relatable (because honestly… we’ve all ignored red flags at some point, just maybe not magical ones 😂). And the fae? Yeah… toxic, mysterious, probably bad for you, but also very much giving “I can fix him” energy.
The pacing was very good, and I appreciated that it didn’t drag.
Now let’s talk about the audiobook because Katie Billings absolutely ATE this up. When I say she did everything—all the voices, all the accents—you really forget it’s just one person. Every character felt distinct, the emotions hit harder because of her delivery, and she pulled you all the way into the story. This wasn’t just narration, this was a full performance.
Overall, this was entertaining, messy in the best way, and definitely one of those “just one more chapter” books. Extremely well written and narrated!
