The opening sentence of the book description is misleading and wrong: "A beautifully written modern-day love story set in Sri Lanka and London." The Amazon.com editorial review from Publisher's Weekly correctly identifies the location as South Africa's Kruger National Park and surrounds.

Also, I really don't think its primary focus is a modern day love story. Its a thriller, like Meyer's other novels.

The combination of a a Deon Meyer novel and the voice skills of Saul Reichlin is a treat not to be missed. This particular story is somewhat different to the Benny Griesel series in that the lead male character is not a policeman, and has considerably more latitude in dealing with his adversaries.

Gripped from start to finish - their parallel lives, through decades of war, conspiracies and corruption, hold together a twisting story based around South African history and conservation. I loved this book, its characters and its setting!
