Where does Bleak House (Dramatised) rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is a great adaptation of a classic story. Perhaps the best one I have heard!

What other book might you compare Bleak House (Dramatised) to and why?

It compares to some of the other great BBC adaptations that I have heard...I like the radio play elements of this.

Have you listened to any of Full Cast’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not heard this company do an adaptation of a book before. There were some great performances by great actors

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did react to the dramatic/suspenseful moments. They made me react in a strong way. Loved driving in the city and being surprised by the events

I didn't find the accents difficult to understand and the acting is extraordinarily good for an audio book. The challenge with this dramatization is that it sounds like the soundtrack to a television version: it's often difficult to figure out where we are and who's there. It's from BBC Radio 4 but seems as though it was minimally reedited from a TV version. If you know the story already, this is a very fun experience. If you don't, you may be lost.

Unusual radio dramatization

Sadly it was difficult quite often to establish which of the characters was speaking . Dramatic sounds should have helped to indicate where and where abouts the scene changed but they were often heavy handed and told us little.

A great story but spoiled by intrusive sounds.
