Love is impossible. Hate is an open game.

Kimberly

He was once my best friend, now he’s my worst enemy.

Xander Knight is heartbreakingly beautiful.

Ridiculously popular.

Brutally cruel.

He’s a knight, but won’t do any saving.

Xander

We started as a dream, now we’re a nightmare.

Kimberly Reed is pathetically fake.

Terribly innocent.

Secretly black.

She can hide but never from me.

Black Knight is part of Royal Elite Series but could be listened to on its own. For better understanding of the world, you might want to check out the previous books first. This is a high school bully romance, mature new adult, and contains visceral mental health situations that some listeners can find triggering.

I listened to the audiobook. The narration was absolutely amazing. Shane East and Keira Stevens were beyond outstanding. Especially Keira. This was the first book I had listened to that she narrated and she was perfection. There was one chapter in Kimberly’s POV that was so moving and I just had to sit and take it all in.

This book deals with some very hard subject matter for people that were so young. Everything Kimberly went through absolutely broke my heart for her. It took me a bit to really like Xander. But once we understood what was going on with him, things made more sense.

My only issue was these characters didn’t seem like high schoolers. They at the youngest seemed like they should have been college aged.

Narration was superb

So this is book 4 and by now I'm used to the intensity in this series. However, in this book I felt the intensity was lacking.... like with Aiden.

The story starts off with best friends who stop speaking to each other for seven years even though their lives are still intertwined (neighbors). This was very hard to grasp. The story does get wierder and complex... eventually interesting.

The narration in this series is just unbelievable. It is done so well. Amazing.

Overall, I do recommend this book as the story is good and unique.

It's an okay story...

This was a book that made you feel all of the emotions but I loved the journey.

Love them

Audiobook performance was great, but this one was just fine. I like Kim and Xander’s story, the mystery of their falling out when they were childhood best friends to the climax of the story when *secrets* are revealed, but it didn’t leave me feeling overly emotional or anything. The ‘wow factor’ of the plot twist wasn’t a big shocker imo, I guess I just didn’t connect with them as much as previous relationships.

Not my favorite, but audiobook makes it better

First I have to say the narrators did an unbelievable job with this story! They were amazing. Second I will admit that the first half of the book was really hard to get through. The level of cruelty and bullying that happened to the FMC by the MMC and worst, her mother, was really hard to listen to. I genuinely had a hard time trying to figure out how Xander could possibly be redeemed or even the reason for the years of bullying. But I have to admit the second half of the book made it worth it. I love how the author comes up with creative ways for some of these love stories to start when these kids were really little and growing up together. It’s definitely rare in the dark romance genre. Kudos to Rina Kent for another great story!

Beautiful story!
