BEAR IN THE SKY is the sixteenth book in the core MAIN SERIES OF TIMELINE 10/27/62.

BEAR IN THE SKY was originally published as the second half of WON’T GET FOOLED AGAIN and appears now in its separate form in the interests of making what was originally a humongously very long book more palatable, and hopefully digestible to readers!
________

There is always the unexpected; the best laid plans never seem to go quite the way they are supposed to go. Especially, in the still dysfunctional outer regions of the once-great Soviet empire.

It is election year in the United States but a new Armageddon is never that far away. Anything that threatens a new conflict between America and its dreadfully mauled, still potentially dangerous global competitor is an existential threat to everything that had been salvaged from the wreckage of the October War.

And so often happens, when the crisis arrives the fate of the unstable new world order is in the hands of a handful of people already scarred and tested, to the point of destruction, by their experiences since the cataclysm.

From the moment the Amerikanskaya Mechta – American Dream – lifts off a runway in the Russian Far East the clock is ticking and all the politicking over the coming Presidential Election, the dispute over the Malvinas and all the other ills of the world are as nothing in comparison with the decisions which are about to confront the pilots of the Phantom F-4s scrambled to intercept the Red Air Force Tu 95 Bear nuclear bomber intruding into Hawaiian airspace…

Author’s note to readers: since the publication of OPERATION ANADYR in October 2014, the Timeline 10/27/62 series has branched into and explored a number of additional narrative arcs and themes, and in several standalone stories.

For my readers who prefer to read the Timeline 10/27/62 books in the chronological order of the overall narrative arc BEAR IN THE SKY = 42.
