Battle Scars tells the story of Jason Fox's career as an elite operator, from the gunfights, hostage rescues, daring escapes and heroic endeavours that defined his service, to a very different kind of battle that awaited him at home.
After more than two decades of active duty, Foxy was diagnosed with complex PTSD, forcing him to leave the military brotherhood and confront the hard reality of what follows. What happens when you become your own enemy? How do you keep on fighting when life itself no longer feels worth fighting for?
Unflinchingly honest, Battle Scars is a breathtaking account of Special Forces soldiering: a chronicle of operational bravery, and of superhuman courage on and off the battlefield.

'The most important book you'll ever read... Battle Scars will save lives.' TOM MARCUS, author of SOLDIER SPY

'A vivid, searing account of a life at war.' BEAR GRYLLS

'A must read.' ANT MIDDLETON, bestselling author of FIRST MAN IN.

I loved the openess and honesty of the author. It bought an understanding of how we can define ourselves with what we do and how it can affect us. Thank you

It started really slow, was hard to get used to Foxy's narrating, but after few quick chapters and no distractions this book just gets better and better. As an ex military who've been through some depression and anxiety I understand exactly what he is talking about, I resonated with him a lot. More than that, the last chapter mentions a lot of things that I took into my own life. We share common journeys, and maybe he is 100 steps ahead of me these days. but still it's never too late to start improving.

This book explains exactly that, he did it the harder way in my opinion, but the rewards and the life beyond he shares are much greater.

Recommend to go through this book, and take notes if you are new to this perspective, or even in this journey yourself.

Starts slow, moves to greatness. Powerful

When starting, the first chapters the narrating was somewhat mechanical, it really felt like 'reading text', not telling one's story (which is what i expected since the narrator is the writer?). Once i got used to Fox 's voice and 'narrating' style , it became bit better.
The content is solid, i hope him tellin his story about what he went through and what he really felt can help others still being ashamed of mental troubles.

Good story, mechanical-ish narrating,
