Private investigator Matilda Wren's new client is a woman seeking evidence to divorce her husband.

She is also the former fiancée of her last client—and dear friend—Lord Ravenhurst. Though he has enthusiastically offered to aid Tilda with future investigations, she can't very well accept his help in this matter. Especially when her client's husband is murdered, and Ravenhurst is a suspect.

Hadrian Becket, Earl of Ravenhurst, has never felt more alive than when he was solving a mystery with Miss Wren, even when suffering headaches from using his newly acquired ability to touch an object and see a person's memories. He wants nothing more than to continue their professional association as well as deepen their friendship. Except now, he must prove he isn't guilty of murder, even if that includes working against his former partner.

Tilda can't believe Hadrian is capable of harming anyone, but how well does she know him? She must rely on her intellect and investigative skill—and not allow her affinity for him to cloud her judgment. When the killer strikes again, Tilda sees that the danger is not to their friendship after all, but to their very existence.

As fun as the first! Ms. Burke knows just how to sprinkle the right amount of romance into a twisty, twisted mystery. Can’t wait for Book 3!

Book Two -Bravo!

A fabulous sequel! Tilda and Hadrian manage to put all the pieces together to a complicated crime without confusing the reader overmuch. The prose was well-written, easy to read (or listen to), and satisfyingly paced. The slow burn is excruciatingly slow, but the hurt/comfort aspect is simply delicious. More please! Hopefully these two come to their senses soon!

Our performers are wonderful once again at handling all the various voices and characters. I can't wait for more!!

Tilda and Hadrian get more than they expect when Tilda accepts a new case involving Hadrian's former fiancé. There is no shortage of mysteries that need solving or suspects that require investigation, and Hadrian's special "gift" gets quite a workout. These two make a wonderful team on several levels. It was good to see Teague again. I do like continuity of solid peripheral characters. This book missed a 5 star rating only because I grow weary of Tilda's incessant insistence that she will never marry. It verges on overshadowing the entertainment of the investigation, and that would be most unfortunate. I get the disadvantages of the time, but this is fiction, and I need what is bound to be a very interesting but overall well-suited romance. So, please, find a way to overcome the would-be barriers and take their relationship beyond the professional. That said, I eagerly await Tilda and Hadrian's next outing.

This is the second book in the series. I loved the first also but lazily just gave stars. I enjoyed both and eagerly anticipate the upcoming third book. if you like Victorian England and mysteries - you can't go wrong here. Enjoy!

Not the least disappoint d in the second in the Raven and Wren series. So many different directions and surprises.

Series continues and it’s still good.
