A new and highly anticipated Inspector Lynley TV series releasing this fall from BritBox

Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers and Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley are back in the next Lynley novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Elizabeth George.

Michael Lobb has just been found dead on the floor of his family’s tin & pewter workshop. It’s suspicious enough that his body was found by a representative of Cornwall EcoMining, a company keen on acquiring his family’s land, and it’s made even worse when he’s revealed to have been the majority owner of the business and the sole obstacle preventing a deal from being made. But it doesn’t take long for Inspector Beatrice Hannaford to unearth the layers of estrangement that surrounded Michael in his final days, pointing suspicions elsewhere. In comes Kayla, a young woman half Michael’s age, who has just been made his widow.

Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley and Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers are brought in to help solve the crime and search for justice in a community where lust, greed, and family traditions collide with devastating consequences.

Elizabeth George's story telling skills soar even past resolution of the mystery. I can't wait for the next book.

Lynly moves dorward

Elizabeth George is one of my favorite authors, but this was far from her best effort. Lindley isn’t in it until about halfway and the main inspector on the case has little personality and George makes little effort to develop the characters. I will still read her books, but this was disappointing.

Not her best

George never writes a bad story and this was excellent. Character development is her gift and these people drew me in and the ending was unexpected. There were lots of side plots and perhaps one too many. The book was very long and on a few occasions I thought some editing might improve the read…like I am the expert, right? It’s a good book and I recommend it highly if this is a genre you enjoy

Complex but believable

Once again, Elizabeth George’s story telling genius and brilliant character development keeps us enthralled in a journey into crime fiction. I love her characters and the way she gets into their heads, evolving and developing each one. Lynley and Havers are such completely different characters but the way they work together is so very very human!

Another great story!

A complex system of interwoven plot twists. As always, nothing disappointing. I’ve read all of the Lynley novels and look forward to them and savor the read! Thank you!

As always an incredible read!
