Surrealist painter Salvador Dalí eccentrically presents his ideas of painting, judging good or bad the prominent figures in the history of art, and expounding on 50 "secrets" that cover topics like the movements of types of brushes, blending, objects needed in a painter's space, the characteristics of colors, sleep, spiders, and sea urchins.

Dalí surmised that no one even remotely interested in painting would be able to avoid consulting this wry amalgamation of testimonials, instruction, and arguments. It is a work that would serve as yet another step in positioning Salvador Dalí, as his very name indicated, to do no less than to rescue painting from the void of modern art.

Dali was nuts.
I love him and have learned a lot from him in the past. This book holds a lot of his brilliant insights. I think that he complicates Painting, but his solid work and style are proof of his mastery.
The only problem I had was the emotional breathy reading. It was okay. I don’t know if Dali would have spoken quite like this. I could be wrong.
The problem I have with it is that I wanted to hear the information and the reader distracted me from that.
I have the physical book. This Audible version is complimentary to it.

Interesting advice given throughout the book.
