In all, 108 words are included, the number 108 being symbolic of a certain level of completion. Yet this is by no means an exhaustive listing of pertinent terms. In fact, a book of 1008 such words could as easily be written, if not for the sheer awkwardness of such a tome, not to mention the degree of attention most have for these kinds of things.
The thought is that this book is just enough and not too much information, presented in an easy-to-read and even sometimes humorous way. It can be picked up anytime and read from anywhere in the book, its alphabetical listing making it very useful for reference. It also contains the devanagari (the actual Sanskrit letters) for each term, giving it another level of sophistication while still keeping it simple.
While this book could be useful to many, it is first and foremost for the students who come to our yoga trainings.
For many of you, yoga is a whole new world, and the Sanskrit can be a bit intimidating at first. This book is meant to address this issue. Learning yoga can be fun, simple, and relatively painless. I trust that this current offering will be of service in that regard. My aim as a teacher is to save my students time and unnecessary agony, and also empower them to be as good a presenter of the material as I am, if not better. After all, if I can save you time, then you have that much more time to devote to other aspects of teaching. And on that note, I do hope to provide other similar books on other aspects of yoga. These will likewise all be available in digital and soft cover formats, through Amazon KDP or otherwise.
One final note: Just as the listing of terms here is not exhaustive, so too the definition and notes about each Sanskrit term is by no means fully fleshed out. The aim was to provide some of the most basic, relevant, and interesting information for each term – just enough and not too much.
