When 16-year-old poetry blogger Tessa Dickinson is involved in a car accident and loses her eyesight for 100 days, she feels like her whole world has been turned upside-down.
Terrified that her vision might never return, Tessa feels like she has nothing left to be happy about. But when her grandparents place an ad in the local newspaper looking for a typist to help Tessa continue writing and blogging, an unlikely answer knocks at their door: Weston Ludovico, a boy her age with bright eyes, an optimistic smile…and no legs.
Knowing how angry and afraid Tessa is feeling, Weston thinks he can help her. But he has one condition — no one can tell Tessa about his disability. And because she can’t see him, she treats him with contempt: screaming at him to get out of her house and never come back. But for Weston, it’s the most amazing feeling: to be treated like a normal person, not just a sob story. So he comes back. Again and again and again.
Tessa spurns Weston’s “obnoxious optimism”, convinced that he has no idea what she’s going through. But Weston knows exactly how she feels and reaches into her darkness to show her that there is more than one way to experience the world. As Tessa grows closer to Weston, she finds it harder and harder to imagine life without him — and Weston can’t imagine life without her. But he still hasn’t told her the truth, and when Tessa’s sight returns he’ll have to make the hardest decision of his life: vanish from Tessa’s world…or overcome his fear of being seen.

The story was beautifully written and very thoughtful in every way. I love the message behind it and found myself unable to stop listening until the bittersweet end. I mightve cried, like... a LOT!!!
Cant wait to bite into the next in series!
LOVE the narration!

I read the first 60 or so pages solo. Then my daughter, 13, who is my romance novel reading buddy, made me quit and wait on she and I to finish another book. Finally that happened and we got to read the first 88 pages with the audio book in one sitting. I have lost SO MUCH SLEEP this week. I have missed my bedtime for 6 days in a row. And I start work at 5 or 6 am most days
Commonly shouted at each other were: "Shoot, I read ahead [of your narration]", "Where's my bookmark. I don't want to read ahead."
My daughter jumped up and down at numerous times in the reading. We both squealed on every other page. She like a 13 year old girl who is having her own real life crushes. And me... like I was young again. :)
Abbie, I hope you get to read this plus the ones she and I are sending to goodreads and mine to Amazon and anywhere else I can think of.
Nerd time. You really write like literary fiction writers do, minus the silly fluff. Every sentence is crafted. EVERY one. Your use of repetition is inimitable. Only a few times a word would repeat and both of us just giggled with melted hearts at it everytime. ♥️
This book I truly believe made me and my already lovely kid into better people. I have NEVER been so moved by a story Including Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo and Juliet, and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
We already own the next 2 books. Don't hate us for this... but we are waiting for December 1 and will divy up the chapters so we finish on Christmas Day. Book 3 will be right after.
I'm ordering the remainder of your works with my next paycheck.
You have made such a beacon of happiness on our lives with this story. I am still blown away after finishing some 30 minutes ago.
I hope to have you sign our copies one day.
Bravo!
