She believed in love. He believed in control. Neither expected to believe in each other.

Sunnie wasn't looking for forever but love has a way of showing up in the most unexpected places—sometimes shirtless, tatted, and unapologetically dangerous. Jules Jones, better known as Pyro, had a reputation that spoke louder than his words ever did… until her.

What began with tension turned into territory. Now she wears his last name and his fire on her skin but in a world full of chaos, exes, secrets, and smoke, the real question is—Can two wild hearts build something that won't burn? This is more than a love story. It's a blaze and once it starts… There's no going back.

This was a good story overall, but there were quite a few plot holes. The first time the characters are alone together, they sleep together, she sneaks out while he's asleep, blocks him, and they have no contact for three months. Yet everyone talks about them like they're an established couple deeply in love. When they finally reunite, the same thing happens again—sex, sneaking out, and another three-month ghosting period—while the story continues to treat their relationship as if it has a long, rich history.

There were also some inconsistencies. In one scene, she says he puts her in the passenger seat of her car "like it's his," but in his version of the same scene, he's driving his own car. I also never fully understood why she was so angry about the ex-wife. Given how little time they spent together and how few meaningful conversations they had, it felt like there was still a lot they didn't know about each other. The book also had several editing errors.

Even so, both characters were likable and had great chemistry. I laughed, enjoyed their interactions, and especially appreciated Pyro's growth from wanting to possess her to recognizing them as equal partners. The narrators were excellent and perfectly cast.

The story had lots of potential but didn't give much. Seems like an introduction. No back story. Just hints. Narration was ok.

Sunnie and Pyro were perfect for one another. I loved how their love blossomed. I love how they found safety in one another. When I first read it it was great, but listening to it made it amazing. Wonderful narration. It's now on my comfort list.

Protective love
