Jim Lewis is unemployed and one month away from being evicted when he finds out his great aunt has passed away and left him her property. But she didn’t leave him a regular house–it’s a boarding house in a quaint college town.

When Jim arrives, he finds out the boarding house is in desperate need of repair and the townsfolk expect him to sell it. But Jim plans on staying, especially after he’s welcomed to town by the beautiful ballerina, Madison.

Just Off Campus follows Jim as he gets to know more of the women in town, including a feisty dancer, an aspiring author, the owner of a bookshop, and the manager of the boarding house.

First of all, the attempt a deeper male voice is bad. The rare times it even kinda works she sounds more like a very effeminate gay guy than a “average Joe” hetero male.

Worse though is the way the narrator tends to end at least 50% of the male character’s with an upwards inflection that makes it sound like a question or exclamatory sentence. It’s HORRRIBLE. It’s distracting and throws the cadence off making the male character sound stilted.

The female voices don’t suffer the same issues thank goodness.

Narrator almost ruins the whole thing.
