getting to explore yourself in a way that allows for trust to be there or for trust to grow during qinky scenes is absolutely what level of spice I am down for. Add in fated mates and orcs and a great story, and sexy narrator voices... what an amazing hot storm. Not for those who like days long qink tho. still no blood play, and no dubious consent. it's not dark romance, it's a rare book where I felt seen, is a story of understanding self, self love, and steamy sex.

2025 Audiobook Review

I loved these two narrators together and was excited to see they teamed up for book 2 in this series of interconnected standalones! I have listened to the male narrator before and he is one of my favorites. He does such a good job with his performances, his different voices, and the emotions he weaves in to bring his characters to life is always top-notch. He was the perfect Khel, his growl and tone were spot on for this cinnamon roll orc who gives into whatever his mate wants (and is so dang sexy with his more dominating persona he puts one). So many droolworthy moments with his audio! I haven't listened to this female narrator a lot (1 or 2 in the past) but she definitely impressed me in this one. I felt Sunny come through my phone speaker and I could envision her throughout the audiobook. She captured her vulnerability, her inner strength, her innocence, her "orc bait" behaviors haha. I loved her relationship with her bestie and how she navigated those voices and connection. I loved once she came home and got rid of her ex how she tried to find herself again and the intonations and performance captured that so well (along with her constant thinking of her kinky orc <3 ).

Already listening to book 2, this is a strong combo of narrators and I hope they do more together in the future (authors pick these two!!).

I devour everything Kathryn puts out, even orc M/F romance haha (not something I thought I would type before hahaha). From thr very beginning I connected with Sunny andbloved her personality and worries and her strength to go for what she wanted when it was a huge step/scary with the unknown. I wish I could be as brave as her!!

This book is uuuuuuuber steamy but really explores this strength in going for what you want even if it's taboo. If it makes you happy and brings you joy, who cares what people think. It also definitely opens up the eyes of our delicious orc to the fact he wasnt ready for Sunny and wouldnt be able to get our of her orbit. He could plan this one/control the situation like he normally does and it was funny and sometimes frustrating to see see him try haha. I thought they were electric, some of the hottest scenes this author has ever written. I did like how he made sure he wasnt a rebound but couldnt help tying her forever since his body/soul/mind made the decision for them with the mating bond. I really liked Sunny's bff haha and was happy to see her ex go. He made me do some big eye rolls in the beginning hahaha. Based on how this ended and the hints about the next story, I am so ready for the next book in the series of standalone romances. Bring on the monsters, so ready for them 😍😍😍

If you are looking for a complicated plot or more plot than smut, this is not what you are looking for. This is what it is, an amazing love story that is super high heat, special orc appendages/features that bring Sunny so much pleasure, and a look into a new world that will keep the heat going with this monsters agency and hired pleasure adventures/scenes. 5/5 absolutely loved!!
