When the wicked widow wagers the notorious rake…the stakes are high, but the temptation is higher.

Lady Theodosia Dundas has spent years reveling in her role as the ton’s most scandalous villain. Known for spreading gossip, ruining reputations, and cutting down anyone who flaunts their happiness before her, while she’s sold to a decrepit viscount. But widowhood has its perks. With her own estate and no man to control her, Theodosia is finally free to live as she pleases—no husband, no rules, and no apologies.

Harcourt Eliot, Earl of St. Germans, has spent his life drowning his demons in brandy, women, and cards. Told since boyhood that he was worthless, Court has never believed himself worthy of anything—until his father’s death gives him the chance to prove otherwise. Determined to right his father’s wrongs, he wins back an estate his father lost long ago… only for Theodosia, his sister’s best friend, to arrive at his door, ready to claim the home for herself.

So they set the terms—she wants the estate, and he wants her…in his bed. But as passion ignites and past wounds surface, who shall be the victor? And is the estate the only thing on the line?

I got this as a free code for an honest review. it is your typical regent style love story. The bad boy who finds the girl of his dreams. spoiler tropes best friends brother and they were friends. The narration wasn't bad but there is a lot of background noise and at one point it sounded like she hit the mic. I don't know if she does her own editing or if it goes through somebody but there were a few things missed.

What a rousing bit of good fun. The heroine is quite persuasive in this story. But the hero is no slouch himself. This is exta entertaining with the banter and interactions between these two. The twist and turns and the final conclusions are very satisfying. I highly recommend this book. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life.

I was entertained by this book. One of the things I liked in this story was that both protagonists started out as unlikeable characters as Lady Theodosia Dundas spread gossip and ruined reputations, and Harcout Eliot, Earl of St. Germans, drank and chased various women. As the story unfolded and I learned what caused their actions, I began to understand and appreciate them. There were some lascivious scenes included. I thought CC Kline's narration was admirable. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
